Total Quality Management (TQM) Engineer

The property
The TQM Engineer is responsible for the supporting the Laminate Technologies Quality System, supporting the Enhanced Training Program, Developing Lean Initiatives to drive continuous improvement in leading and coaching others on process improvement for the designated and assigned Facilities of Laminate Technologies. Role will encompass four (4) key segments:
  • Leading and Driving Continuous Improvement Initiatives at all Facilities.
  • Developing Lean methodologies for all Lam Tech Facilities.
  • Supporting the success and Facilitation of the Lam Tech Training Program,
  • Facilitate the Laminate Tech Quality System in conjunction with the Director of Quality, VP of Operations and individual Plant Managers.
  This is accomplished by adherence to the established Quality system, analyzing current work practices, operations, systems, and processes and then applying lean principals, tools, analytics, and processes with the goal of improving on Laminate Technology’s ability to continuously and efficiently meet the quality standards of both Laminate Technologies and our Customers.   This position will also be responsible for the initiation and investigation of quality related issues as they arise, facilitating communication between the Laminate Technologies Sales Group, assigned Facilities and the Customer as well as is responsible to help implement countermeasures to those quality related items.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand, develop and implement “Best Practices” for lean manufacturing ideologies.
  • Analyze and audit products, systems, operations, work practices and processes for eliminating non-valued added activities and communicate risks and/or recommend changes to improve existing or new systems and processes.
  • Develops quality assurance plans, processes and improved systems by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification of procedures.
  • Work with other team member to analyze, plan, develop/design, implement, test, sustain (5S, standardization, visual factory, and error proofing-Poka Yoke) process improvement initiatives
  • Utilize process mapping, value stream mapping, and identify inefficiencies in productivity with focus on layouts and sequencing tools
  • Develop and coach teams on Quality initiatives and lean manufacturing ideologies and methodologies with assistance from each Facility in identifying root causes of Customer related issues.
  • Implement quality initiatives and monitor SOP’s to ensure standard work is being followed properly throughout the day.
  • Monitor and control lean initiatives ensuring desired outcomes are completed and recorded on appropriate systems.
  • Demonstrate, practice, and be commitment to quality initiatives, lean initiatives, goals, standards, and values by setting the example for other members
  • Maintains open communication with LT Sales, each Facility and assigned Customers and solicits input from all members of LT management, supervisors, team leaders and other members on status of open issues. (i.e. risk assessment, ongoing and open initiatives, upcoming lean events, etc.)
  • Follow established company and work area safety policies including the wearing of all required PPE’s
  • Follow established company policies, policies and rules outlined in Member Handbook as well as procedures required in the standard operating procedures/work instructions
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed by your Supervisor or Manager
  Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 3~5 years experience in a Manufacturing Process Engineer role or Manufacturing Quality Engineer role with an emphasis on problem solving or problem solving methodologies.
  • Formal continuous improvement training or minimum of green belt from Sig Sigma training.
  • Proven ability to solve systematic production and quality related issues in the manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lead multi-site continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Formal understanding of APQP and New Product Launch processes
