Summary: Laminate Technologies is seeking Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing transportation activities to ensure timely and quality delivery of materials for both Laminate Technologies and our customers. This newly created position is responsible for developing and executing the distribution strategy for six of Laminate Technologies plant logistics operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement strategy that works to lower transportation costs and ensure on time delivery for both inbound and outbound loads.
  2. Plan, organize, or manage the work of fellow staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
  3. Oversee logistic movements for all imports, exports, and domestic shipments ensuring on time delivery to meet internal and external expectations.
  4. Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, or tracking transportation of all tractor trailers and common carrier loads.
  5. Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, contracts, environmental policies, or government regulations.
  6. Participate in all recruiting and selection processes for truck driver applicants.
  7. Ensure vehicle operators meet all DOT and/or insurability requirements.
  8. Serve as point of contact regarding transportation matters for all employees at all plants within the company.
  9. Plan and implement schedules or policy changes for transportation services.
  10. Monitor and control spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets for detention, demurrage, fees, etc.
  11. Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, or meeting with individual staff members.
  12. Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
  13. Direct or coordinate the activities of operations department to obtain use of equipment, facilities, or human resources.
  14. Analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, or budgets for increasing profits or improving services.
  15. Collaborate with other managers or staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, or objectives.
  16. Plan or implement energy saving changes to transportation services, such as reducing routes, optimizing capacities, employing alternate modes of transportation, or minimizing idling.
  17. Direct staff performing licensing, repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles, company cars, or facilities.
  18. Conduct employee training sessions on subjects such as hazardous material handling, employee orientation, quality improvement, or computer use.
  19. Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
  20. Conduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents, coordinate cleanup activities, or improve safety procedures.
  21. Set operations policies and standards, including determining safety procedures for the handling of dangerous goods.
  22. Develop criteria, application instructions, procedural manuals, or contracts for federal or state public transportation programs.
  23. Develop or implement plans to improve transportation services.
  24. Negotiate, authorize, or monitor fulfillment of contracts with equipment or materials suppliers.
  25. Direct procurement processes including equipment research and testing, vendor contracts, or requisitions approval.
  26. Maintain accurate data and records for all transportation activities.
  27. Ensure back-up transportation personnel are properly identified and trained to minimize disruption in transportation activities.
  28. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to utilize procurement software.
  29. Other duties and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor.
