Director of Purchasing

Summary: Laminate Technologies is seeking Director of Purchasing at our corporate office.  This position is responsible for overall material procurement, and the control of the inventory of raw materials. The right candidate must be able to develop and implement strategies and policies for purchasing of raw materials, supplies, and services to support the internal quality standards for Laminate Technologies and our customers.   Laminate Technologies, Inc. company advantage:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute a composite panel and global purchasing strategy to ensure sufficient, quality inventory levels at a price point that will enable to company to continue to grow the business.
  2. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, transporting, and distributing materials and supplies.
  3. Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training.
  4. Create and execute KPI’s.
  5. Manage, oversee, and supervise purchasing, transportation, and materials human resources in purchasing and materials to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
  6. Represent company for negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  7. Develop, build, and manage relationships with key suppliers and customers including those activities involving ocean freight.
  8. Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, sustainability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
  9. Locate vendors of raw materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  10. Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts based on current inventory levels.
  11. Know and understand applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulations related to purchasing.
  12. Responsible for forecasting procurement needs.
  13. Monitor, audit, reconcile, and ensure accuracy of inventory levels with appropriate departments.
  14. Responsible for negotiating production and shipping schedules, lead-times and order qualities with import suppliers.
  15. Prepare and process requisitions, purchase orders and solicit bid proposals.
  16. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to utilize procurement software. 
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Required experience is 8 to 10 years in purchasing and preferred 5 years experience as a manager with five or more direct reports.  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.  A Master's degree is preferred.
